3 Lessons Learned From Our Conversation with Jennie Moore of WongDoody

Author: Andrew Gall

Here are three key takeaways from our recent episode with Jennie Moore, VP Group Creative Director at WongDoody. Listen to the full conversation here.

LESSON 1: Find your voice—and own it.
Earlier in her career, Jennie felt the pressure to emulate others’ creative styles, particularly those in her male-dominated creative department. Over time, she learned that trying to be someone else was a creativity killer. The best work came when she leaned into her unique voice and personal style, offering her authentic perspective rather than trying to match others.

LESSON 2: Parenthood changes everything—embrace the chaos.
Jennie recounts how becoming a mom brought perspective and balance to her work. Managing both a creative career and family life made her more efficient, empathetic, and decisive. She learned to let go of perfectionism, embrace the messiness of life, and channel real-life parenting experiences into her creativity.

LESSON 3: You don’t have to prove anything.
Transitioning from creative to Creative Director is challenging, especially when you’re suddenly leading peers. Jennie advises embracing the role with confidence, knowing you were chosen for a reason. And most importantly: being a leader is about elevating your team, not yourself.
